
Revamping Our Literacy Read-Aloud & Independent Reading Center for Student Engagement and Achievement

First graders at Putnam County Primary School will soon enjoy a refreshed, engaging space designed to strengthen their love of reading, thanks to a Spring 2026 PEF Teacher Grant awarded to Reasha Daniels. Her project, Revamping Our Literacy Read Aloud & Independent Reading Center, creates a comfortable, organized environment that supports independent reading, small group instruction, and mentor read aloud time.
The upgraded center will feature flexible seating, a new carpeted reading area, headphones for listening stations, and a collection of benchmark-aligned mentor texts. These additions are designed to boost reading stamina, improve listening comprehension, and help students make meaningful connections to classroom instruction.
