Don’t Just Sit There, Do Something!
Awarded $1500
My name is Lauren Brown and I teach 2nd grade at Putnam County Primary School. The project I was funded for is called “Don’t Just Sit There, Do Something.” This funding will allow for the purchase of items for flexible seating in my classroom. My students will be able to move around the room to work independently on their new lap desks, and they will also be able to collaborate together on small group projects while standing at the high-top rolling table. I am most excited about the fact that- when appropriate- they will have multiple choices of places to sit and work around the room. They will have the ability to work alone or together. They will learn independence, freedom, and choice. These are skills that will follow them all of their years of schooling and of life. I am thankful for the funding and for the Putnam Education Foundation.
