Measure the Day

Awarded $692

Fourth grade students will soon dive into a more hands on approach to measurement and data thanks to Measure the Day, a newly funded classroom project by teacher Valerie Padgett and co teacher Titus Dunn. With the grant support, the team will launch daily and weekly routines that help students track real world information like weather, time, and money while rotating through math centers stocked with new games, manipulatives, and graphing tools.

The project brings together engaging materials, such as an outdoor scale, graphing boards, measurement games, and activity sets, to help students build confidence in an area where they’ve historically struggled. With the new materials, students can build their knowledge and understanding of measurement and data and how these things are part of our everyday life, giving them a stronger foundation for future math success.
